Rough skin texture and acne are well related to each other. Acne bumps are the root reason for making the skin texture uneven and coarse. Excess sebum production and build up of dirt, dead skin cells or some other impurities on the face and the body can also cause acne breakouts.

Achieving a blemish free skin which has even texture becomes quite difficult. It can be difficult but not unachievable if you start using the right kind of cleanser in your daily routine.

Body cleansing is the first step of skincare. You might be using regular soap bars that just remove the surface impurities and do not help in clearing the pores or acne breakouts. It won’t be able to give any results.

You need to start using an anti acne soap that contains active ingredients which help in clearing out the congested pores and control acne breakouts. Ingredients like salicylic acid can be used for such purposes because of its ability to deeper in the pores and clear out the impurities effectively.

    What is salicylic acid?

Salicylic acid is the gold standard ingredient for acne and oil control. It is a powerful beta hydroxy acid which is naturally derived from willow bark. It has been the most popularly recommended ingredient by dermatologists because of its great exfoliating properties and skin clearing action. Salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliant which helps in scrubbing away the impurities from the skin. It does not work like a physical scrub that cleanse the skin by harsh scrubbing. Instead it dives into the pores and exfoliates away the impurities from the skin.

It is different from other chemical exfoliants like AHA and PHA in action and nature. All the other exfoliants are water soluble in nature and salicylic acid is oil soluble in nature. This allows it to cross the oil layers of the skin and reach into the pores. It then helps in cleansing the congested pores by effectively removing the excess sebum, dirt and dead skin cells from the pores. AHA and PHA can not perform similarly, they are water soluble so can’t penetrate into the skin. They help in surface cleansing only.

Benefits of using a salicylic acid soap

    • Deep pore cleansing: Salicylic acid has the ability to dive deep into the pores by crossing the oil barriers of the skin. It works by dissolving the bonds of dead skin cells and other impurities that form a hard plug. By wiping off the impurities from the skin it helps in clearing the congested pores.
    • Excess sebum control: Due to salicylic acids’s ability to penetrate the pores, it can be helpful in controlling excess oil. It does so by wiping off the excess from the pores and exfoliating the excess from the surface as well.
    • Control acne breakouts: Salicylic acid helps in keeping the pores of the skin clear which prevents breakouts. It also helps in clearing acne when used in routine.
    • Improves skin texture: Salicylic acid helps in clearing the dead skin cell buildup by loosening the cellular bonds between them, so helps to shed the dead skin cells. It promotes  an even and smooth skin texture.
    • Prevents strawberry skin: The skin might get rough textured due to clogged pores and darkened pits which resemble the structure of strawberry seeds. Salicylic acid in an acne soap helps in clearing the pores and spots which helps in reducing the appearance of strawberry skin.
    • Anti-inflammatory property: It is a derivative of aspirin so without any added ingredients, salicylic acid itself helps in calming down the inflamed skin and reduces the redness due to breakouts.

How to incorporate salicylic acid soap in daily routine?

A soap for controlling acne and achieving a clear skin needs to be used regularly along with proper skincare routine.
